What are Anti-Wrinkle Botox Injections?

Although these treatments are commonly performed, there is still confusion about what they are, how they work and what’s in them. Before undergoing any injectable treatment, it’s essential to understand these things to find the best solution for you. Anti-wrinkle injections contain a naturally purified protein that works to relax the muscles in your face and block nerve signals to the muscles. These proteins have been used worldwide for decades and are very safe to use.

Anti-wrinkle treatments are designed to reduce the signs of ageing. This is achieved through relaxing your facial muscles to prevent wrinkles from forming. As we age, our skin loses the collagen and suppleness that it once had. Some of the types of fine lines and wrinkles that can be treated include:

The procedure for this treatment is quite quick, usually taking 30 mins. This can take longer depending on how many injections your treatment consists of.  As the dermatologist injects the areas of your face for treatment, the toxin blocks signals from your nerves to your face. By doing this you relax the movement of your facial muscles, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

As with any injectable treatment, it is important to be fully aware of any side effects that may occur. Although these injections can cause side effects, they are usually temporary and kept to the area where the injection took place.

The most common side effects of anti-wrinkle injections include:

• • Redness

• • Bruising

• • Swelling

• • Facial pain

• • Headache and nausea

• • Muscle weakness
